Mudgirls Natural Building Collective talk & slideshow?

Postby forestclare on Sun Aug 16, 2009 1:07 am

Hello,

My name's Clare, I'm a member of the Mudgirls Natural Building Collective based in coastal British Columbia, Canada. We're an all-female collective that offers workshops for women only, but also welcomes men in mixed gender workshops.
I'm traveling through Britain & Ireland in November of 2009, doing talks and sharing slideshows about our work, and contacting people who might be interested in setting up events with me.
The Mudgirls are part of the "green building" movement, but we are also part of the feminist movement, at a time where navigating those waters seems as tricky as it ever was. We're interested not only in building, but in healing various forms of alienation through building. Things like healing the gender divide, addressing the complex reality of mothers, and dismantling the alienating systems of specialization of work that prevent people from believing that they have the basic right to provide their own shelter (for example); that skills for living are not the sole province of "experts".
I'll be in Bristol around November 21-23 and it would be great to meet you. Let me know if you'd like to set up an event!
I'm hoping to cover travel expenses between cities, so let me know if charging a fee is a possibility, or if taking donations is appropriate.
I'm also traveling through these other towns, I'd love if you have any recommendations for contacts in these places and wouldn't mind providing them:

Cork, Ireland
Norwich England
Newcastle, Eng
Leeds, Eng
Birmingham
London
Bristol
Glasgow, Scotland
Edinburgh, Scot
Oban, Scot

Thank you for your time and any help you can offer!
